North Carolina Theatre is always looking for enthusiastic interns in development, marketing, and production. Interns work directly with individual department heads & staff to receive practical training in fundraising, administrative management, or technical theatre.
NC Theatre is actively seeking interns for the Fall Semester for Marketing as well as other departments. Now taking resumes for SPRING 2014 Semester as well.
INTERNSHIPS Available Include Marketing, Development (fundraising), Audience Development (Sales) and Administrative.
There are no specific time requirements for the development and marketing internships. We expect a strong work ethic and high standards of performance. In return, interns are treated as members of the staff and receive valuable hands-on experience. We ask that all interns be dependable, conscientious, and energetic.
For the development and marketing internships NC Theatre will assist interns to meet the credit requirements of their school, but all arrangements must be made by the intern.
Intern positions are non-paid with no housing or travel stipend. NC Theatre internships offer invaluable hands-on experience in professional theatre and opportunity for training with industry leaders. NC Theatre is a great place to work, giving interns hands-on experience that leaves them prepared for their next step into an entry-level position within the workforce.
The Marketing Intern assists with marketing for NC Theatre’s Broadway season, touching all aspects of marketing, promotions, advertising, and public relations. Intern will have opportunity to work with a real working budget, assist on executing advertising plan and creation of all ad materials including TV, radio, print & collateral pieces. Internship also includes the ability to oversee show promotions. Additional duties include archiving shows, updating social media sites, and assisting with playbill layouts. Intern should have strong writing and verbal skills as well as the ability to multi-task. Additional experience available with PR opportunities and working on press items/media appearances.

The intern will be exposed to all aspects of fund development, such as special events, grant writing, databases, the annual fund, and direct mailing. Special events responsibilities include organizing and executing opening night parties, patron dinners, receptions, and the Backer’s Club, a pre-performance reception for leading donors. This position can be tailored to one’s personal interests and opportunities for special projects are available for candidate with specific skills. The time commitment is flexible and can be anywhere from 5 to 40 hours a week, with regular hours preferred. This internship is everything you would need to prepare for a development associate position at a nonprofit. Intern should be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and should have excellent writing and communication skills.

Intern assists the Audience Development Manager in implementing marketing initiatives and creating sales tactics to increase audience base for season subscriptions and individual shows, as well as analyzing patron loyalty. Interest in sales management or business development is a plus. Knowledge of MS Office Suite, strong verbal skills along and ability to multi-task required. Duties include, but are not limited to: archiving data, cultivating new partnerships for group sales, assisting in sales team management, organizing patron information and various administrative responsibilities.
Production interns must be able to commit to nights and weekends for a two to three week rehearsal and show run with no conflicts. Additionally, daytime hours during the tech week for all positions and for the entire period for production/company or stage management interns are preferred.
